About Us: Who We Are

The Una Group are a multi-award-winning business, operating in the commercial property and business investment field.

The company was formed by David Young and Ian Brooking in 2004, after bringing like-minded individuals together for one business project and finding that by working together, other opportunities arose which could be better tackled by the group than by any one individual working alone. This inspired our name – ‘una’ is Latin for “all together as one”- and reflects our business philosophy of togetherness and teamwork.

About Us: What We Do

Our commercial property portfolio is made up of a wide range of business premises (including offices, warehouses and industrial units) across five different business parks in Plymouth.

The Airport Business Centre in Estover offers maximum flexibility and is home to a versatile range of business spaces. Broadley Park Road, Devonshire Meadows, Devon Enterprise Facility, and Eaton Business Park offer longer-term industrial space, with a combination of open storage, industrial and commercial premises.

We also passionately believe in backing good people who have great business ideas.  This has allowed us to get involved with and invest in a number of different businesses from various sectors over the years.

We were founder shareholders in Stem Networks providing high-end IT support services and Back-2-Business, a disaster recovery business, both of which were subsequently acquired by ITEC Connect to create a business that now supports clients across the whole country. ITEC itself has recently been acquired by Xerox UK. David Young continued as a director and shareholder in ITEC up until the recent acquisition by Xerox.

We are also investors in one of the biggest end-to-end developers of gasification projects in the UK, CoGen UK Ltd, now led by Ian Brooking. They use advanced thermal conversion technology to produce renewable energy from residual waste. These facilities play a key role in resolving the UK’s waste issues locally by diverting waste from landfills, reducing the number of waste exports, while transforming residual waste into low carbon, renewable energy.

Other current projects include Imployable, a career management tool, supported with both space and funding. In addition, we are funding and supporting a new start-up business creating environmentally-friendly concrete, the Real Green Concrete Company.

In the past, we have created a unique waste rubber processing plant through our Crumb Rubber business which produced ultra-fine rubber powder. From this recycled material we invented a novel roofing slate through Dynaslate Ltd and have been involved in new materials development through Verneos Ltd from which we still earn income from licencing the intellectual property created.

We have also previously supported the growth of Burts Chips as funders/shareholders, and they remain one of our biggest tenants.
